Download · closed beta

Let the raven fly in.

HuginMail is in closed beta, and the raven is still practising its landings. Downloads open soon, for your Mac and your iPhone, with the same inbox on both.

Mac

Closed beta · coming soon · Apple silicon (M1 or newer)

The full, keyboard-first HuginMail: two panes, a key for everything, notifications, and every Gmail account you have.

Coming soon

Installing, once it's out

  1. Open HuginMail.dmg and drag HuginMail into Applications.
  2. Open it once. macOS will say it can't check the app, because it isn't notarized by Apple yet. Click Done.
  3. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. You only do this once.
  4. Click Add Google account, and add as many as you like.

Why the extra step? HuginMail is still young and isn't signed with an Apple developer certificate yet. Signed, one-click installs are on the way.

iPhone

Closed beta · coming soon · runs inside Expo Go

While the iPhone app is in testing, it runs inside Expo Go, Expo's free app for trying apps before they reach the App Store. Same inbox, same lanes, swipe to complete or snooze.

Coming soon

Trying it, once it's out

  1. Install Expo Go from the App Store.
  2. Ask Laust for an early-access link or QR code. HuginMail isn't listed anywhere public yet.
  3. Open the link on your iPhone, or point the Camera at the QR code. Expo Go opens HuginMail.
  4. Tap Add Google account and sign in.

Questions

Good to know

Which mail accounts work?

Gmail and Google Workspace accounts. Add as many as you like; they all land in one inbox, each with its own colour.

Does HuginMail delete anything?

No, never. Completing a mail files it away in Gmail (like Archive), snoozing moves it out of sight until later, and tags are Gmail labels. There is no delete button.

When can I get it?

Soon. HuginMail is in closed beta while the last rough edges get sanded off. Ask Laust for an invite, or check back here.

Is there a version for Intel Macs?

Not yet. The closed beta is built for Apple silicon (M1 and newer).

Where is my mail kept?

On your devices, in a local database, synced straight with Gmail. The details are on the privacy page.
